Mitchell Hope's Ben Could've, But Didn't, Go Full Beast in 'Descendants 2'

Mitchell Hope's Ben Could've, But Didn't, Go Full Beast in 'Descendants 2'

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!

Mitchell Hope plays Ben, now King of Auradon, son of King Beast and Queen Beauty — yes, that Beauty and the Beast, in Descendants 2.

If you watched the sequel DCOM on Friday, or anytime over the weekend, you saw that big roar that Ben let out towards the end.

You’re probably wondering why the character didn’t actually morph into Beast form — we mean, his dad was a beast, and his girlfriend went all dragon. So, why not Ben?

“No one has ever asked me about that, nor was it ever raised throughout the entire process,” director Kenny Ortega revealed to TVLine about the possibility.

He adds, “But I could see where someone would think, ‘Uh-oh! That’s going to happen, too!’ We just felt that Ben needed to express that he was feeling empowered to make the decision he makes at that point.”

'Descendants' Cast Spill On Plans For A Third Movie!

Descendants 2 may have just aired but the cast already can’t wait for the third movie!

Although a third flick hasn’t been confirmed just yet, China Anne McClain, Booboo Stewart, Cameron Boyce and Sofia Carson have big plans for the next film.

Descendants 2 ends with my character Uma saying the last line of the film that Mal said in Descendants 1 – ‘You didn’t think this was the end of the story, did you?’” China explained.

She continued, “I would like to see my character stay a villain because it adds a different element to it…and I would like to see other villains.”

“If there’s a third movie, I would like to see ‘Rotten to the Core’ again,” Booboo said.

Cameron added, “You know what I think should and hopefully will happen, not that I know anything, but I really, really hope that the parents come back…but I think it’d be interesting if all of the parents came to Auradon and we had an epic clash!”

We totally agree with Cameron! Fingers crossed for a third movie!

The 'HSM' & 'Descendants' Casts Are More Similar Than You Think They Are

The 'HSM' & 'Descendants' Casts Are More Similar Than You Think They Are

You wouldn’t think there would really be any similarities between Descendants and High School Musical — besides Kenny Ortega, of course — but there are.

In a new interview with People’s Choice, the famed director opened up about how the similarities aren’t in the story, but in the casts.

“I think both projects, the actors that we’ve selected to play these roles, have a deep connection with each other, they are family,” Kenny says. “There is a chemistry that they share and I think that comes across.”

He continues, “It’s something that lives underneath the dialog, underneath the music, underneath the dancing. You feel something when you look at these people together on a screen and I think that our fans connect with that. I think there’s where the similarities are.”

It’s magic!

“I also think the similarities also exist in the casting choices that we made…all of the actors that we cast in High School Musical share something in common with the cast of Descendants and Descendants 2,” Kenny adds. “That is their sincerity, their enthusiasm, and their desire to be there and to make it special.”

Giving us all the feels!

Descendants 2 premieres TONIGHT @ 8PM ET/PT on ABC, Disney Channel, Disney XD, Freeform and Lifetime.
